The Process
Because this is a significant commitment both in terms of time & investment, I’ve broken it up into three different layers that serve as benchmarks for pivotal milestones in the process. Each layer requires a different type of work and thus a different approach, so I’ve structured them accordingly with their own independent roadmap, deliverables, & billing cycle. They can be staggered for maximum efficiency, or done sequentially depending on your unique circumstances, however each layer is essential for the result to be the best it can be.
1.CANVAS LAYER
The Bones: Design Concept Development, Floor Plan Review, Fixtures & Materials Renovation, New Construction
Before we start furnishing, we want to ensure that the canvas we are working with is designed for utmost functionality and that the concept for the space is woven into the structural elements. For this layer we will make decisions regarding materiality, lighting, and spatial design that set the tone for the rest of the concept to be fleshed out. We will work in tandem with a GC, builder and/or architect during this phase, as they will draft the construction drawings. I do not project manage build sites, so it is important to note that the architect and builder/GC will be your point person for all things regarding structural integrity, construction drawings, & building codes.
The design deliverables for this layer include:
Before photos
Design concept development & presentation with sensory anchors and materials swatches
Designer collaboration & review of floor plans drafted by builder/GC or architect
Spec Book - specify finishes, fixtures, materials, hardware, lighting, and paint selections
3. FINISHING LAYER
The Crown Jewels: Sourcing Rare, One-of-A-Kind, Bespoke Art Objects & Decorative Elements That Speak to The Soul
Transform your home through the artful selection of one-of-a kind original artwork, gallery-quality pieces, and rare decorative items. The focus of this layer is on sourcing unique, investment-worthy art objects, leveraging access to exclusive trade-only resources to discover or create extraordinary pieces that add depth, character, and sophistication. Each element is meticulously curated to complement the base layers of the design, culminating in a space that feels both luxurious and distinctly yours.
The design deliverables for this layer include:
Collaborating with artists and fabricators for commissioned works to clearly communicate vision, specifications, and for supervision of production process
Showroom / gallery visits for selection of trade-only investment pieces
Purchasing & vendor coordination
Installation
2. FURNISHING LAYER
The Environment: Conceptual Elaboration, Finalized Design, Procurement & Install of Functional Furnishings, Styling
Working off of the initial concept developed in the Canvas layer, we will further refine it, selecting and creating beautifully functional furnishings that bring the vision to life. The furnishings to be specified will cover all the major utility zones of the home, including living, dining, bedrooms, office or den, exterior patio dining/living, floor coverings, custom window treatments, and photography styling (throw pillows, plants, accent lights, etc).
The objective with this layer is for the space to be fully functional and habitable immediately upon completion of construction, allowing us to take a little more time discovering what the space “needs” from an artwork curation perspective. Artwork and art objects fall into layer 3 domain.

Second iteration of design concept / design direction check-in
Design presentation with selected furnishings, swatches, furniture layouts & renders for each room
Purchasing & procurement
Receiving & white glove delivery services
Installation
Styling for photos

Undertaking a complete home transformation like this is a very intimate process and it often coincides with other major shifts happening in your life. If you are reading this and saying to yourself “no, that’s not the case”, then the project itself will be the catalyst - trust me on this one.
